Tooth Sensitivity and Crest Sensi Strips

by Honey Rowland Leave a Comment

I was recently chosen to participate in a tooth sensitivity event with Crest.  I know…I hear you…

“But Honey!  You make your own toothpaste!  Are there chemicals!?!  What about fluoride?!”

But, they’re fluoride free and I HAVE sensitive teeth.  I can’t eat ice cream,  I can’t drink anything cold unless I have a straw which must go far enough in to avoid hurting my teeth.  If something cold touches my teeth…I’ve a bad headache at best or a migraine starts.  Even winter air can be a problem.

Tooth Sensitivity Review with Crest Sensi-Stop Strips

So, I drive down to Cincy to do an interview & hopefully be chosen  for the sponsored post. They interviewed me how my teeth are sensitive and I mentioned how I would never bite a Popsicle.  This little girl that looks sweet as can be was hiding a mean streak a mile wide.  More on that later.

So…they hand me this little strip.  I tear it open and inside’s a “clearish” piece of tape about an inch long.  I put it half on my gum and half on my front teeth because that’s where the cold bothers me.

I didn’t notice anything odd as I waited the 10 minutes.  I would wiggle it a bit with my tongue  but it really didn’t move unless I messed with it.  I could talk and I sounded normal.

After about 13 minutes I went back to talk to that cute little gal and dude…her sadistic side erupted after I took off the little strip.

She goes, “Remember how you said you’d NEVER eat a popsicle?”  And she pulls one out.  Yeah I was breaking out in a sweat.  I told her she was mean.  I’m obviously going to be invited back.

I thought, I’m going to end up with a migraine and I’ve an hour plus drive just to pick the kids up!  So, I said a prayer I had my migraine medication in my purse and a bigger prayer that these Sensi-Stop Strips would work and I took a bite.

HOLY CRAP!  They ACTUALLY WORKED!

I took another bite and was surprised it still didn’t hurt.  It was just normal teeth!  I mushed the popsicle up around my front teeth and NOTHING!!  No zinging lightning strike that feels as if your head’s going to explode.  It was exciting!  I thought I could take the kids to get snowcones!  So, I thanked the folks and headed home.

First thing I did was order a fountain Coke (don’t judge me!) with EXTRA ice!  Manna from HEAVEN people!  I even took the lid off!  No zings, headache or migraine.

I'll be able to enjoy ice cream now that my tooth sensitivity isn't an issue!

The next day I drank ice water all day but that evening we bought an ice cream and it started zinging me.  It wasn’t migraine zing but I didn’t want to chance it.  I got about 24 hours out of 1 strip which I think is really good for only 10ish minutes.

I told Ben I thought they’d be great for special events like a festival or an amusement park.  You know…all those places that have tons of snowcones and ice creams and cold, icy drinks.  I know that while they have stuff in them I wouldn’t normally use I totally would use them for those special moments so I can participate IN them because, sometimes, it’s worth changing normal practices for memories with your kids.

family memories are worth it

So, if you have to use straws and avoid cold things, preorder the Crest Sensi-Stop Strips so you can get them in September.   I’m ordering a box for conferences and when we go on vacation.

Crest gave me the Sensi strips to try and while this is a paid review it’s my honest opinion.  That little gal with the hidden mean streak (who was actually really nice) said they’ll last up to a month.  I bet after using them a while the sensitivity goes away so check ’em out.  I think you’ll enjoy them.

About Honey Rowland

Organic since it was a dirty hippie word is an easy way to understand me. With 3 kiddos (7, 14, and 16) and one bearded hubby I raise chickens, ducks, turkeys, goats, rabbits and Great Pyrenees livestock guardians on our organically ran mini farm in Ohio. A bull calf and heritage breed pigs have recently been added, along with an impending move into our less than 600 sq ft tiny home that's more and more off grid with each solar panel we buy.

Homeschooling, green living, self-sufficiency and natural parenting (but with yelling) is the norm here. Any skipping through the tulips tends to end with a face plant in chicken or duck poo but being a "glass half full" kind of gal I can smile 'cause the poo is organic and non-gmo!
