Montessori Albums

by Honey Rowland 5 Comments

Yesterday & today I’ve been looking around for some albums that are available for older(6-9) children.  I found a complete & amazing set FOR FREE!! from  Montessori Educational Centers.  (The link is no longer working but if you pop over to my post about the 6-9 albums you’ll be able to get them there. edited 3/12/10) There is a Language, Math, Physical Science, Grammer, Geograhpy, History &  Geometry.  There is around 500 pages if you print it all out.

I also have to give a quick plug to Karen at wwwMontessori12.yahoo .  I’ve taken the NAMC training for the 3-6 & found it lacking.  The people in charge are absolutly nice/wonderful but I wasn’t impressed with the albums.  I learned more reading through Montessori books (derh there!) but where I thought I’d get more…taught to me I didn’t.  The materials cd is nice ( Montessori for Everyone’s cd/free downloads are much better in my humble opinion.) & I think they’d be good if you wanted to add a little Montessori to your childcare/homeschooling but with out knowing how many presentations you need, etc…long story short I don’t recommend them.  Karen’s albums are SUPER!!!!  Her set comes to around 6000 pages of true learning of the method, how to make lessons (though with what she’s sending I don’t need to add to anything but the religious part) and she’s REALLY affordable at only 150ish.  She is very private when it comes to religion.  We’ve been celebrating different cultures & religions since the kids were little.  And I’d love to find some Monte out there that’s already made nomenclature cards …. hint!

Anyways, this is my opinion & perhaps I’m a Monte Queen…who knows! 😉

Enjoy the album.  I’m printing mine out & since I’m pet sitting it’s taking 2 days since I’m using my father in laws printer.  I realize that I LOVE my Huge, Bulky, ALL IN ONE Epson when compared to his newer HP printer.  Mine is much faster & prints a better quality picture with less ink! Mine might run an extra 7 bucks for a new cartridge but I think it’s cheaper in the long run.  I can’t wait for Epson to get into being able to refill them… Hello Epson..Have you heard of Reduce.Reuse.Recycle!?! 🙂

http://faculty.fullerton.edu/syen/mts/_link.htm is for 3-6
Cultivatin Dharma has some good stuff too!

About Honey Rowland

Organic since it was a dirty hippie word is an easy way to understand me. With 3 kiddos (7, 14, and 16) and one bearded hubby I raise chickens, ducks, turkeys, goats, rabbits and Great Pyrenees livestock guardians on our organically ran mini farm in Ohio. A bull calf and heritage breed pigs have recently been added, along with an impending move into our less than 600 sq ft tiny home that's more and more off grid with each solar panel we buy.

Homeschooling, green living, self-sufficiency and natural parenting (but with yelling) is the norm here. Any skipping through the tulips tends to end with a face plant in chicken or duck poo but being a "glass half full" kind of gal I can smile 'cause the poo is organic and non-gmo! I would also love to know if there is a link that works for the Montessori Educational Center’s albums, the one in your post doesn’t work and I tried poking around the site and couldn’t find it.

    Hi Honey:
I found out about your blog from Karen’s class (and the signatures on your email). Can you please let me know of the correct link for the Montessori Educational Centers’ albums? I couldn’t get it to work (although it may just be my computer!).
    Cheers,
    Cate

I have to thank Honey for the wonderful comments that she gave the course that I run through Yahoo Groups. I start a new group of students through this class every 4 months. My new class begins on February 1st, 2010! If you are interested just email me at karen@amontessorimarketplace.com
